Adjustable kettlebell buying guide
An adjustable kettlebell replaces a row of fixed kettlebells with one compact bell. The Powertrain 7-in-1 adjustable kettlebell adjusts from 2kg to 20kg with one hand, so you can go from light presses to heavy swings in seconds.
Single kettlebell or a pair?
| Kettlebell | Weight range | Settings | Build | Size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20kg Adjustable Kettlebell | 2–20kg | 7 weights | Die-cast aluminium handle, ABS body, steel base and plates, locking system | 25.6cm base, 36cm high |
| 2x 20kg Adjustable Kettlebell Pair | 2–20kg each | 7 weights each | Die-cast aluminium handles, ABS bodies, locking system | 25.6cm base, 36cm high |
A single kettlebell covers swings, goblet squats, deadlifts and one-arm presses and rows. A pair lets you do double-kettlebell front squats, presses and cleans, and saves switching sides on every set.
Adjustable kettlebell vs fixed kettlebells
- Space – one adjustable kettlebell does the job of seven fixed bells.
- Progression – change the weight for each exercise: lighter for presses and get-ups, heavier for swings and deadlifts.
- Feel – the handle stays the same at every weight, so your grip feels consistent.
Which weight should I use?
- Presses, get-ups and rows – start light; most beginners use the lower settings.
- Goblet squats and deadlifts – your legs are much stronger than your arms, so most people can go noticeably heavier.
- Swings – once your technique is good, swings are driven by your hips and can be done heavy, up to the full 20kg.

Adjustable kettlebell FAQs
Are adjustable kettlebells worth it?
For a home gym, yes. You get seven weights from 2kg to 20kg in the space of one kettlebell, and you can change the weight for each exercise.
Can you swing an adjustable kettlebell?
Yes. Make sure the weight is locked in before every set, and always set the kettlebell down in a controlled way – never drop or throw it.
What weight kettlebell should a beginner use?
Start light and focus on technique, especially for swings. With an adjustable kettlebell you can add weight one setting at a time as you improve.
