Pilates reformer buying guide
A pilates reformer brings studio-style workouts home. You push and pull a sliding carriage against adjustable springs, building core strength, flexibility and posture with low-impact movements. All of our reformers fold for storage. Here's how they compare.

Which reformer is right for me?
- Aria (steel) – our most affordable reformer and a great way to start reformer pilates at home.
- Lyra (steel) – a sturdier one-piece steel rail, a jumpboard for cardio work and more adjustment for different body sizes, with a 150kg max user weight.
- Selina (oak wood) – a studio-look timber reformer with microfibre leather upholstery, whisper-quiet wheels, a sitting box and a jumpboard.
- Velora (aluminium) – a light, studio-style aluminium frame with 6 springs for the widest resistance range, plus a sitting box, jumpboard and 6-level footbar.
What to check before you buy
- Springs – springs set the resistance. More springs, in different strengths, give you more combinations, from gentle rehab work to challenging strength sessions.
- Accessories – a sitting box adds seated and lying exercises on top of the carriage; a jumpboard turns the reformer into low-impact cardio.
- Adjustability – an adjustable footbar, headrest and shoulder rests help you set up correctly for your height and keep good alignment.
- Space and storage – reformers are about 2.3–2.6m long when set up. All of ours fold down to between 1.2m and 1.4m long for storage.

Pilates reformer FAQs
Is a pilates reformer good for beginners?
Yes. The springs can be set very light, the carriage supports your body, and most beginner reformer exercises are done lying down. Start with light springs and slow, controlled movements.
Can I do reformer pilates at home?
Yes – a home reformer gives you the same core movements as a studio class. Many people follow online reformer classes, and a foldable reformer packs away when you're done.
What is the difference between mat pilates and reformer pilates?
Mat pilates uses your body weight on a mat. Reformer pilates adds spring resistance and a moving carriage, so you can make exercises lighter or harder and work through a bigger range of movement.
